Roasted Local Nuts

Kenari or Pili Nuts (Canarium ovatum) is endemic to the Alor Regency which is located in the north eastern part East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) where the plant grows naturally, in some areas the population is dense enough to be called ‘hutan’ Kenari or Kenari forest. Kenari trees have been an important part of the local’s life culturally & economically; the nuts, the shell, the wood, the forest. Years ago, the goodness of the nuts started to become known to the neighbouring islands and beyond, and since then the island gained its alias, Nusa Kenari or the Island of Kenari.

As for the Cashews (Anacardium occidentale), not known to many the fact that East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) is the main cashews producer of Indonesia. The plant is quite widely spread over the province with main concentration in Flores, Sumba & Timor islands. Many cashew plantations are family-based business, managed hereditarily and planted organically with no chemical intervention.

All our nut products are roasted with no additional oil. We use local fresh herbs & spices to season our nuts through simple cooking process in small batches. Afterall, it doesn’t take much to make them tasty when you are working with good raw nuts!
